_Tyson Falk, MPA
Policy Analyst
Tyson Falk, NIREC’s policy analyst, researches and monitors renewable energy matters in Nevada with a statewide focus on its development and implementation. Tyson collaborates with officials and regulators to advance the deployment of green technology in Nevada. In addition to his research efforts, Tyson assists NIREC’s work as an intermediary for the creation of an innovation-based economy in Nevada by encouraging the development of green technology at Nevada’s research institutions, the promotion of clean energy business, and the development of utility scale renewable energy capabilities.
Prior to joining NIREC, Tyson worked as a research specialist with Fisher Consulting where he built relationships with government and industry representatives while gaining first-hand knowledge of the political process. He served as a registered lobbyist during the 2001 state legislative session where he worked on clean energy issues, among others. From 2006 to 2010, Tyson was a customer service representative with local legal production company Sierra Document Management, where he developed long term relationships with members of the legal community.
Tyson attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice with a pre-law emphasis. He also obtained a Master’s degree in public administration and was admitted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Tyson has first-hand knowledge and appreciation for the unique renewable energy opportunities that exist throughout Nevada and lived in Winnemucca, Ely and Spring Creek before residing in Reno.

As a Program Manager with NIREC, Bryan McArdle is focused on building greater awareness around NIREC’s Innovation Partners program. He also manages NIREC’s clean energy business development contracts aimed at developing a stronger clean energy cluster throughout Nevada.
Prior to joining NIREC in August of 2011, Bryan was a Senior Dealer Representative at Windspire Energy, (formerly Mariah Power), where he promoted and built interest in the Windspire, a vertical axis wind turbine designed for use in urban, suburban and rural small wind markets. He assisted the expansive dealer network with sales approaches and installation procedures for the product.
An entrepreneur himself, Bryan established and owned the first hookah lounge in Reno, Nevada, and, prior to that, owned a popular Irish bar.
Bryan graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in environmental and natural resource science. After opening up his first business without prior business education, he returned to school to pursue a master’s degree in business. Shortly thereafter, he went to work for Windspire Energy, Inc., where he was able to apply his renewable energy background and his business experience.
Bryan is passionate about renewable energy, clean technology and entrepreneurship. He is a member of the TMCC Renewable Energy Task Force that develops the curriculum to provide students with the necessary skills to enter the clean technology job market. At the University of Nevada, Reno, he was a mentor in the Entrepreneurship Club and contributed to the development of the university’s Entrepreneurship Program. Bryan often advises young entrepreneurs and provides guidance on their business ideas.
Jackie Phillips
Communications Manager
Jackie Phillips is the Communications Manager for the Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization (NIREC), where she manages and implements the organization’s communications and outreach plans. Prior to joining NIREC in 2009, Jackie was a project manager at FileWorks, a small critical document management software company where she established and maintained a consistent voice and image for the company through all marketing collateral materials and websites. The expanse of her career was spent on the University of California, Berkeley campus where she worked for just under 20 years, spending seven years in the School of Law’s communications department and over 12 years in the marketing unit of the Housing & Dining Services business unit. In these roles, she oversaw the production of major publications, including serving as managing editor of the Boalt Hall Transcript magazine. She also produced in-house publications and website content. She was responsible for establishing and tracking project budgets and project timelines. Jackie holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley and a marketing certificate from the University of California Extension.
