The Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization (NIREC) to Announce Latest Call for Proposals to Accelerate Clean Energy Technology Innovations
NIREC’s President and CEO James A. Croce to Provide Keynote Address at National Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR-STTR) Conference in Sparks, NV
On Tuesday, November 3, 2009, Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization (NIREC) President and CEO Jim Croce will announce a new call for proposals for clean energy innovations with per project funding and services of up to $100,000. The announcement will be made by Croce while delivering the opening keynote, “Clean Energy and Economic Prosperity: America’s 21st Century Innovation Imperative,” at the 2009 SBIR/STTR Conference “Re-energizing America.”
NIREC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming clean energy innovations into sustainable enterprises. NIREC provides the vital combination of funding, business expertise and collaborative networks to validate the technology, evaluate its market competitiveness and achieve market entry. NIREC works to strengthen the nation’s clean energy innovation ecosystem, foster the growth of the nation’s technology-based economy and stimulate knowledge-based employment.
According to Croce, the social, environmental and economic impacts of America’s continued reliance on fossil fuels are a key threat to America’s economic recovery and future prosperity. His address examines the interplay of clean energy innovation, production and manufacturing, and their effects on our national economy. Croce also explores the innovation challenges for researchers and entrepreneurs in the process of moving new sustainable energy innovations from the lab to the marketplace, and the key role of the SBIR/STTR program in overcoming these challenges.
At 1:30 p.m., NIREC’s Director of Operations Li Han Chan presents “Accelerating Your Innovation to Market: Leveraging NIREC’s Investment.” The presentation introduces NIREC’s system for business success that includes the organization’s innovation ecosystem, Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program and funding opportunities. Chan also describes the pre-commercialization goals that award recipients can expect to achieve with NIREC’s funding and comprehensive services.
The SBIR/STTR Conference offers an opportunity for project developers and those agencies that provide assistance or are interested in doing business with early-stage and advanced-stage ventures to gather for a valuable exchange of information and networking with peers involved in innovation.
